What kind of business ideas will qualify?

Any business idea can be entered for the contest. These can be:

  • Products or services exclusive to the digital space
  • Those that use a digital platform as a significant component for delivering product or services
  • A physical or non-digital product or service delivered through a non-digital (“brick & mortar”) platform.

Special recognition and encouragement will be given to innovative ideas in the following domains:

  • Media and entertainment
  • Social networking and digital commerce
  • Ideas that leverage technology and Artificial Intelligence

PROCESS, SELECTION & EVALUATION

Process to participate

  • Contestants should log on to www.manoramaonline.com/bideas and register their details.
  • Team Big Idea Contest Season will get back to you with rules and regulations of the contest.
  • Contestants have to submit their business plan in the prescribed format.
  • Shortlisted teams need to make a presentation of their business ideas before the jury panel at the semi-final stage.
  • The jury will select the three successful teams in the Grand Finale, which is scheduled for mid-February 2017.

Your ideas will be selected an evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Is your idea unique and innovative?
    We encourage unique and innovative ideas but not those which offer only incremental or marginal improvements to existing products or services.
  • How significant is your idea?
    Will your idea touch a large number of consumers? Will it provide significant value addition to potential consumers?
  • Will your idea be a game changer?
    Will the idea, when transformed into a viable product or service, change the behavior and nature of engagement of consumers, retailers and other intermediaries with greater efficiency and effectiveness?
  • Preliminary assessment input from potential target consumers.
    Did you talk to at least a small sample of your potential consumers? What do they think of the idea? Are they interested/ excited about it?
  • Implementation feasibility.
    Is the idea technically and commercially feasible? What are your preliminary estimates of costs?
