Kerala has a total of 941 gram panchayats. Among this, hotspots were declared only in 256 panchayats after April 22. The decision to declare hotspots based on local self-governments were taken when the active number of cases reported in Kerala was 128. The number of infected persons was 1,540 in June 22. But only 27 per cent of the places were identified as hotspots.
There are six corporations in Kerala. Between April 22 and June 22, these corporations were became hotspots at least once.
Kerala has 87 municipalities. Out of this, 35 became hotspots during the time.
