The Economic Review 2017 also said considering share of service sector in the state GDP, the benefit of GST to the state is expected to be 'more enormous'.

'The revenue-led fiscal consolidation can be restored sooner rather than later,' says the report.

In the Economic Review 2017, the govt have stated that it is opitimistic about a 'positive turnaround in its review growth once the issues of GST implementation are resolved

Last week, the minister also said that his ministry has been reviewing various posts with ministries. The posts that have become out of date may be abolished.

Govt have already asserted that it will not provided expensive vehicles for minister any more.

The FM is expected to announce a number of austerity measures as the state cripples under financial crisis.

Thomas Isaac, who has been staying in govt guest house at Vizhinjam for the preparation of budget for the past one week, will leave for Assembly shortly.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had presented the Union Budget 2018 yesterday.

The Finance Minister has already made it clear that the budget speech will be shorter by about an hour as he neither has a long list of new taxes nor a shower of sops to present

It is Isaac's 3rd budget speech in his current stint as the finance minister

But still, Isaac can hurt family budgets if he try to boost govt revenue and rein in expense to overcome the financial crisis the state has been facing post-GST

This time, the State Budget will be a different experience as the FM is left with very limited powers on taxation post-GST
