The bronze statuette is plated with 24-carat gold. However, the number of Oscar statuettes made for each ceremony would be different as the exact number of winners are only revealed during the ceremony. For instance, all producers of the Best Picture would receive one statuette each. And some movies would have more than one producer. Around 50 statuettes are brought for each ceremony and the remaining ones would be stored in a secret vault to be used for next year.
The Oscar winner is adjudged by the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members through voting. 8,469 Academy members would vote for the Oscars in 2020.
The members who join as associates are not eligible to vote. The Academy has invited 842 film professionals and executive members from 59 countries this year as new members.
