The Academy Awards or Oscars are the most coveted recognition in Hollywood. The prestigious annual awards are given for excellence, both artistic and technical, in the film industry. The bronze statuette is plated with 24-carat gold. However, the number of Oscar statuettes made for each ceremony would be different as the exact number of winners are only revealed during the ceremony. For instance, all producers of the Best Picture would receive one statuette each. And some movies would have more than one producer. Around 50 statuettes are brought for each ceremony and the remaining ones would be stored in a secret vault to be used for next year.

The Oscar winner is adjudged by the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members through voting. 8,469 Academy members would vote for the Oscars in 2020.

From 2002 onwards, the Dolby Theatre has been the permanent venue for the Oscars. It has a seating capacity of 3,400 at four levels and 20 opera boxes. The seating capacity for the Oscar night is 3,300. Only invitees can attend the event. The Oscar nominee would get one pair of tickets and would get an additional pair of tickets on request.
